Scott grew up in northern New Jersey with his mother, sister, and younger brother Donny, who was born with Down syndrome in 1976. Donny’s arrival profoundly transformed the family, shifting their focus to improving the lives of individuals with special needs. Whether through involvement in the Special Olympics or championing education initiatives, Scott’s family made advocacy and support a central part of their lives.
Inspired by this upbringing, Scott pursued higher education, earning a master’s degree in education. He has been married to his wife for 29 years, and together they have built a family of four children. Their two biological children, Lauren and Justin, are joined by Taylor and Josh, two children with Down syndrome whom Scott and his wife adopted. The value instilled in Scott by his mother—to help and uplift individuals with special needs—found its fullest expression in the adoption of Taylor and Josh.
After successfully building and selling a company, Scott sought more than just a new career; he wanted a mission. This led him to establish a non-profit thrift store in Pennsylvania while also teaching high school at Calvary Christian School.
As his children approached adulthood, with Taylor graduating and Josh set to graduate in 2025, Scott recognized the need for programs that encourage individuals with special needs to reach their full potential. This realization became the driving force behind the creation of Emanuel’s Place—a program designed to empower and inspire individuals like Taylor and Josh to thrive beyond graduation.
Scott’s lifelong commitment to bettering the lives of individuals with special needs continues to be a testament to his family’s enduring legacy of compassion and advocacy
