Dr. Kristen Coppola is a devoted wife and mother of four children, two of whom are adopted and have Down syndrome. Her personal experiences deepen her understanding of the challenges and joys faced by families of individuals with special needs. She earned a PhD in Cognitive Psychology and currently works at Rutgers University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where she works with medical students on study strategies, test taking, and time management. She has also collaborated with medical students on research projects designed to promote special needs awareness and inclusion.
Dr. Kristen Coppola brings a wealth of expertise and passion to her role on the board of directors for Emanuel’s Place. Her commitment to this mission is reflected in her extensive board experience, having served with Hopscotch Adoptions and Bethany Christian Services, where she championed special needs adoptions. Her work has taken her across the globe, including to Armenia and the Republic of Georgia, where she helped find forever homes for special needs children.
One of Kristen’s greatest hopes is to empower her children to achieve independence and make meaningful contributions to the world. She is thrilled to join Emanuel’s Place and looks forward to building connections with the families and adults who become part of the program.
